New Moon in Capricorn…the perfect energy to move ahead with the impulses unleashed by the Winter Solstice. As I write each month, I am trying to work with these energies in two ways, giving a global perspective, which we all need to be dealing with, and a way to take these energies into our personal realm by giving practical ways to work with each lunation. I am going to focus a bit more on the setting of intentions each month, for it allows us to engage with each new moons energies, harmonize with them and begin to let ourselves open up to their influences.

Setting Capricorn New Moon Intentions
Here, we want to look at issues like future security, reaching our goals, success and recognition, how we manage, and how we deal with authority.  As we take the time to write down our intentions for this New Moons energy, we can formulate wishes like: “I want all my fears of growing old to be totally lifted from me.” “I want to find myself easily embracing the habit of self-discipline.” Or, “I want to clearly see which goals, when attained, will make me happy.” Remember to make only up to 10 intentions, and frame them around the following key words for the greatest success:

Time, Making Sensible Decisions, Maturity, Old Age, Self-discipline, Adult Behavior, Keeping commitments, Competency, Public Image, Ambition, Defining Goals, Using opportunities, Professions, Hard work, Accomplishments, Recognition, Social Status, Achieving Goals, Following Protocol, Delegating Responsibility, Being in Charge, Respect, Authority Figures, Tradition, Sternness, Pessimism, Inflexibility, and Self-Justification.

I am keeping this a simple and focused message. Action is very important during this next month, and the time to get into action is immediately following this lunation. Christmas break will see a lot of projects be ready to move forward into the New Year, so don’t bee too grumpy if you need to work over the Christmas break. For you southern Hemisphere people, the summer will be a good productive time, so think about taking your laptop to the beach! It’s still slow going for all of us, but your work will move the wheel forward. We will begin to see movement.

We are being asked here to look at work in a new way, so it’s a great time to take inventory about how we relate to something we spend a great deal of our lives doing. It’s time to take a new look at your philosophies about work. How have you approached work in the past? What ideas do you have about how much or how hard you want to work? Do you have negative ideas about work that are holding you back from fulfilling your dreams? It’s time to root them out and do an inventory of your work habits.

Three questions to think about:

1.What have you hated about work in the past? List as many negative connotations as you can.

2. How can you transform those negatives into positives? What is at the root of each of those negatives? Is it a lesson or something that you can address?

3. What systems do you need to put in place to “free yourself”” Don’t let lack of money limit your thinking.

With Venus at the top of the chart, creativity and beauty reigns, so it is a grace moment. Forgive yourself for the past and look to the future. Letting go like that allows you to create with a fresh slate. And there is a lot of energy to create, so go for it.  Now is the time to acknowledge all the healing that has happened in your life up to this point. Let that wholeness fuel you towards creating your dreams in a disciplined way. And for those of us who have been in the seeker mode, fashioning a spirituality that works for us in the world; we will be able to move forward in our careers and worldly endeavors because we are grounded and connected inside. It’s a subtle shift, but a strong endearing one, that attracts the creative force. We will see that more easily woven into our beings and creations.

We have quite a year ahead of us. And 2013 looks equally amazing. We are fortunate to be human at this moment, when we get to see more of how our connection to something greater is going to move us forward into territory that is new and hopefully better for us. I know that we are headed into more earth shifts, and weather anomolies. Food, access to it and new technologies, will play a big picture in the next few years, but his year is the beginning of widespread problems. There will be many, many innovations springing forth to solve the problems we face. And a lot of communities will grow together. More on that in my new years summary next week.
